Abstract
The article presents the results of a study on the transformation of business models of domestic enterprises to achieve operational efficiency under the strict requirements of the «green» transition and European integration. It is determined that the implementation of ESG regulatory mechanisms, including CBAM, EU ETS, CSRD, and ESRS, is ceasing to be an element of corporate reputation and is becoming a basic condition for maintaining access to international capital and sales markets. The key principles of the «green» transition, such as «polluter pays», technological neutrality, and double materiality, are highlighted, and six global trends defining the modern industrial architecture of decarbonization are analyzed. The need to bridge the gap between financial-operational systems and environmental monitoring structures by integrating carbon accounting into the overall business performance management system is substantiated. It is proved that the «cost of inaction» in implementing sustainable development principles for Ukrainian enterprises has a specific financial dimension: from paying inflated CBAM charges at «default» values to the loss of competitiveness in the global market. The scientific novelty of this research lies in the theoretical and methodological substantiation and development of a step-by-step procedure for integrating the GHG Protocol (Scope 1, 2, 3) into the business performance management system based on the Business Performance Management (BPM) concept. The proposed approach allows transforming carbon indicators into equal KPIs, integrating them into strategic maps, operational dashboards, carbon budgeting systems, and financial models, which ensures the transformation of environmental data into an effective tool for strategic planning and informed management decision-making.
