Peculiarities of teaching speaking skills at different levels of studying english language in higher education institutions

The article considers effective forms and methods of teaching higher education students to speak English at different language levels. The effectiveness of students’ education depends on their motivation to learn speaking English fluently and their teacher, so it is important to choose the most optimal methods and forms of teaching to speak English. The goal of an English teacher is to develop students’ communicative skills and abilities. The development of communicative competence is the basis for learning foreign languages. Students must understand and independently create statements in English language depending on a specific situation in the process of communication. A number of problems in teaching foreign language speaking skills are identified and analyzed and ways to solve them are proposed; the value of an effective task for the development of speaking is determined, exercises are selected for the development of speaking skills among students and the formation of communicative competence in them. Examples of effective English speaking tasks aimed at the development and improvement of speaking skills at different language levels are given: Word Association Game; 20 Questions Game; Conversation Snakes And Ladders; Two Truths and a Lie; Would you rather…; Desert Island Game; What If – Thinking Questions; Never Have I Ever; Debate Topics; Accessories Vocabulary Game; Action Verb Guessing Games; Guess The Country From The Food; Restaurant Vocabulary Game; Fun Comparative Adjectives Activity; Fun Past Tense Irregular Verbs Activity; How’s The Weather Game and other. It is generalized that the success of communication in English depends on effective speaking tasks, forms of dialogue and monologue speech, and the use of the opportunity to involve each student in the speaking process in foreign language classes.

У статті розглянуто ефективні форми та методи навчання студентів вищої освіти говорінню англійською мовою на різних етапах вивчення англійської мови під час навчання у вищих навчальних закладах. Ефективність навчання студентів залежить від їх мотивації навчитися вільно говорити англійською мовою та їхнього вчителя, тому важливо вибрати найбільш оптимальні методи та форми навчання говорінню на англійській мові. Метою вчителя англійської мови є розвиток комунікативних умінь і навичок студентів. Розвиток комунікативної компетенції є основою вивчення іноземних мов. Студенти повинні розуміти та самостійно створювати висловлювання англійською мовою в незалежності від конкретної ситуації в процесі спілкування. Виявлено й проаналізовано низку проблем навчання іншомовного мовлення та запропоновано шляхи їх вирішення; визначено значення ефективного завдання для розвитку мовлення, підібрано вправи для розвитку мовленнєвих умінь студентів та формування в них комунікативної компетентності. Наведено приклади ефективних завдань з англійського мовлення, спрямованих на розвиток і вдосконалення мовленнєвих навичок на різних мовних рівнях: Гра в асоціації слів;Гра «20 запитань»; Розмова «Змії та драбини»; «Дві правди та брехня»; «Ви б хотіли…»; «Безлюдний острів»; «Що робити, якщо… – питання для мислення»; «Я б ніколи це не зробив»; «Теми для дебатів»; Гра «Приналежності до словника»; Ігри на відгадування дієслів; «Вгадай країну за їжею; Гра в словниковий запас у ресторані; Веселі вправи з порівняльними прикметами; Веселі вправи з неправильними дієсловами минулого часу; Гра «Як погода» та інші. Успішність спілкування англійською мовою залежить від ефективних мовленнєвих завдань, формування діалогічного та монологічного мовлення, використання можливості залучення кожного студента до процесу мовлення на заняттях з іноземної мови.
